Night Shift Machine Setter

Night Shift - 19:30-07:30 Monday -Thursday

Responsible for ensuring that the controls on a particular machine or process line are set up correctly and that these conditions are maintained to the same standard throughout the production period. The work involves setting and changing of mould tools into the processing equipment. Problem solving and analytical skills are required to adjust the controls and settings to ensure the process continues to operate to specification.

Knowledge of the materials being processed into a product is essential, as the settings will vary dependent upon the material being processed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring every machines is running correctly each day.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes are adhered to and maintained for optimum efficiency.
  • To carry out tool changes when required and restart process accordingly.
  • To ensure that appropriate communication is maintained with material handler / supervisor to ensure material is prepared on time for an efficient start up.
  • To prepare the tool, mould heater, control boxes, pipework and all other ancillaries in advance to enable an efficient change over.
  • Storing all tools and other equipment appropriately and label accordingly. As 6S is introduced, all tool storage is to comply with the 6S expectations.
  • Ensure an overall responsibility for an efficient tool change over.
  • Responsible for tool trials.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times and safety related concerns are escalated for corrective action.
  • Machine preparation, process optimisation & breakdown attendance
  • Minor tool repairs
  • Maintaining all process quality control procedures and escalating concerns
  • Periodically involved in and actively encourage continuous improvement activities, data recording, quality assurance measurement and preventative maintenance
  • Trouble shooting and problem solving as well as assisting the other setters with problem solving and optimisation.
  • To provide feedback to your supervisor / manager in order to optimise the production / tool changing plan.
  • A complete tool change should take no more than 2 hrs for a small tool and no more than 4 hrs for a large tool.
