Europlaz Production Manager

Europlaz is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Manager to help the company reach our ambitious goals.

The Europlaz team strives for continuous innovation with the end goal of delivering to the highest standards to our customers. This is an exciting time for the Company with ambitious growth plans and investment in our infrastructure.  Our production operation is changing with the implementation of a new MRP system, two new clean rooms and a revised staffing structure and job responsibilities.  We are looking for a Production Manager who can champion and lead these changes to ensure their success. 

Role Summary:

Reporting directly into the CEO, the role of Production Manager holds day to day responsibility for the Europlaz production operations. 
This role requires a hands-on approach and a can do attitude in order to ensure overall efficiency without compromising product quality.  The role also requires a balance between strong people management skills and implementing effective processes.  The post holder will be expected to deliver an excellent OTIF performance and profitability and be expected to communicate at all levels of the Company. 

Production Supervisors and Production Planner will report into the Production Manager with support from c.50 Production Operators and support staff working in and out of a Cleanroom environment. The Production Manger will also need to liase closely with the purchasing, qulaity and engineering departments to ensure all customer and regulatory requirements are met.

Role Purpose:

To plan, organise and control all day to day production processes to ensure goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and meeting quality standards. 

To lead Europlaz operations into the next phase of growth and development by implementing and embedding planned changes to the structure and management.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and control the production schedule for all jobs, making adjustments where needed.  This will include managing the human and material resources required.
  • Take overall responsibility for managing human and material resources to meet production targets and KPIs on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance and scheduling.
  • Establish and implement standard operating procedures for production operations.  Ensure all standard operating procedures are adhered to.
  • Take responsibility for and ensure adherence to health and safety procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports
    Monitor and review the performance of staff and organise necessary interventions for improvement
  • Estimate and set production costs and production budgets, implementing cost control programmes as needed.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management.
  • Set and monitor product quality standards
  • work with the Quality department to ensure quality objectives are met and tracked.
  • work with Quality Engineer to analyse production and quality control to detect and correct problems.
  • Strive to achieve continual improvement within the production process

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following: business administration, management, engineering, industrial technology or sufficient relevant experience
  • 5+ years’ production management experience including using MRP systems to plan and control production 
  • 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory or lead position. 
    Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques ideally gained in the Medical Devices industry. 
  • Knowledge of assembly management 
  • Knowledge of raw materials, machinery and tooling
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards, experience in ISO13585 will be considered as an asset.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance, experience in ISO14001 will be considered as an asset
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of business, finance and management principles
  • Knowledge and experience of managing staff through human resource procedures such as in the areas of discipline, performance and absence management.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Since then the company has evolved into a full service medical device manufacturer specialising in delivering finished medical devices, from concept to completion.  The company has four class 7 cleanrooms for moulding and assembly with two new cleanrooms due to open in 2018.
